Mage
The Mage is a match made in hockey heaven. The visual freedom of a helmet/cage combo while offering far superior level of protection.
SPORTMASK designed the Mage as an alternative for goalies who find masks
restrictive and awkward. Such goalies find that the mask fits too closely
to the face to be comfortable, and that the mask’s chin bumps against
the C/A and blocks downward vision. The Mage’s open certified style cage
allows for improved air flow and better sightlines. The fully-adjustable
chin cup and back plate provide a customizable fit. The absorbent sweat
band and the non-degrading XLP padding manage sweat and keep the Mage
cool and comfortable.
Although the Mage feels more open than a mask, SPORTMASK ensured that
the Mage keeps goalies protected. The forehead ridges deflect pucks away
from the head, lowering the chances of a concussion. The rigid composite
shell with an enclosed ear design protects the head and ears better than
any plastic product can. The high tensile certified style cage safely
holds up against and channels energy from impacts.
For the 2007 season, SPORTMASK refined the Mage to offer increased functionality.
The certified style cage is now bolted directly to the shell so that it
does not swing open, stiffening the entire unit and eliminating the need
for j-clips. The redesigned chin offers a new cover piece, which can retro-fit
SM-90 cages, and an adjustable, floating chin cup that secures the Mage
to the head. The new chin set-up can be tightened by a clip fastener to
prevent the Mage from shifting off the head, and since the chin cup does
not rest on the certified style cage, there is also a buffer between the
certified style cage and the face to lessen the sting of a head shot.
The strap buckles are grouped on the back plate to protect them from breakage.
Professional goaltender Tim Thomas provided feedback throughout the development of the Mage
and found that the Mage fit his needs. He has worn the Mage for over three years on teams such as Jokerit Helsinki (Finnish Elite League, 2004-05), the Providence Bruins (AHL, 2005-06), Team USA (World Cup of Hockey, 2005), and the Boston Bruins (NHL, 2006-present).
Watch for Tim Thomas of the Boston Bruins and Tobias Stephan of the Dallas Stars organization to wear the 2007 Mage! |

Mage Models
Mage Pro™
The Mage Pro is the workhorse - just like it’s cousin the Razor.
It’s a lot of mask for the money!
We combine superior grade carbon fibre with our very own ProGlass™ which is 40% stronger than standard fibreglass. We also use a high performance speciatly resin to bond the layers together.
The resulting shell is ultra light and extremely stiff.
As always the vent holes are perfectly cut, and all rough edges are sanded by hand. The cages are TIG welded for maximum strength and like our custom masks—always mounted with precision.
Inside and out the Mage is finished to perfection, hand-polished and buffed to a high gloss.
The MAGE PRO is comparable to the RAZOR VX
with respect to its material composition. What’s the difference between the Mage Pro and the Razor VX? The style of the mask. The Mage Pro is a combo. The Razor is a modern-style mask.
